- Description:
-
The Institute of Health Visiting E-Learning package will support both newly qualified and experienced health visitors in understanding some of the issues faced by families when they receive a diagnosis of disability or learning difficulty for their child/children. These E-Learning modules will also guide health visitors in supporting families in the weeks and months leading to a diagnosis as well as in period following the recognition of a disability. These modules may be specifically helpful for health visitors and form part of the Disability Matters Core Curriculum which provides a far broader and wider range of useful topics on children and young people's health. These specific modules add to the core content of health visiting which is generally taught in Universities and which registered nurses undertake in order to achieve their postgraduate qualification in health visiting. The modules listed below will provide some specific information around disability which, when added to the broader health visitor specification, will help health visitors recognise and appropriately support families who have a disabled baby or toddler ensuring that they too have the best possible start in life in the same way as their typically developing peers.
