The NHS has a workforce of 1.7 million people, making it the fifth largest employer in the world and the largest in Europe. There are currently 31,322 people who have disclosed and identified themselves as disabled employed in the NHS, which represents 2.6% of the workforce.
A part of NHS Employers ongoing commitment to supporting disability in the workplace we have worked closely with the RCPCH and Disability Matters team to develop a short learning package for NHS Managers.
The package is designed to assist HR teams and line managers develop their understanding of disability and feel more confident to support new and existing disabled members of staff.
Comprising 8 carefully selected topics the package offers many benefits to individuals and teams:- establish a culture that warmly welcomes disabled individuals
- confidently offer support and feel comfortable in different situations
- explore your own and others fears, beliefs and attitudes towards disabled individuals
